Saturday  12 mile South Coast & inland Nordic Walk - Start 9.30 am

Drive 10 mins in own cars to start point, Gyllenvase beach. This is a lovely little town beach and has Blue Flag status.

This is a beautiful peaceful Nordic Walk leaving the hustle and bustle of Falmouth to walk along the coast towards Swanpool which takes its name from the Swans that have made their home there. We continue on to the beautiful sandy bay of Maenporth with its beautiful views of Pendennis Castle and distant views of St Anthony Head lighthouse which was used as the lighthouse in Fraggle Rock. From here we take a path inland through the woods and on to the little village of Mawnan Smith for coffee and cake, a pretty little crossroads village with thatched cottages and an attractive 15th-century church. Then back down through Carwinion wish its tropical ferns to the gentle waters of the Helford River coming out at Porth Saxon beach.  We continue on the path following the Helford Estuary which is nestled between the western edge of Falmouth Bay and the Lizard Pensiluar. We pass Gledurgan Gardens, a National Trust site with a beautiful Maze and also Trebah Gardens both nestled in steep valleys.   As we walk towards the Helford Passage we will approach the rustic Ferry Boat Inn which dates back 300 years for lunch at about 1 pm. Then we will return following the water back to Falmouth taking in Rosemullion head and stunning views back over Falmouth. See Map 1 for the route. (Please note, this walk route may change and may include a ferry crossing depending on the tides. We’ll find out in January and if we take the ferry it will be £8 extra onto the price).

Finish 4.30pm
